Rabbits
Release Year: 2002
Director: David Lynch
Starring: Scott Coffey - Jack / Laura Elena Harring - Jane / Naomi Watts - Suzie
Watching Round 1
As usual, after one time watching I'm unable to understand Lynch's intention. As usual again, the 40-min short Rabbits turns out to be eccentric and out of expectations. This blog serves as a process of note-taking.
After: freaky, bizarre, suspicious, evil, dark, misery, confusing (yes, my vocabulary is very limited)
1. Laura and Naomi, both the actresses in Mulholland Dr. (2001)
2. Audience inside laugh whereas I find nothing funny (well, maybe without the horrifying non-diegetic sound it would be funny)
3. Every time the door opens (when Coffey is out), audience clap
4. 'Time', 'phone calls', 'rain' and the word "dark" are mentioned a lot in the lines
5. Repetitive images: burning flames, rolling black ball, smoke, oil, blood and "the man in the green coat"
6. Disturbing image of the rabbit ear shadow on the wall
7. A clip of Rabbits appears in Lynch's another film Inland Empire (2006)
looking forward to an explanation
P.S: The devil's voice is kind of like the one in Dumbland, is it performed by Lynch, too?
GONNA FIND OUT
